" If there is a heaven for me, I'm sure it has a beach attached to it".
~Jimmy Buffett
Not a day goes by that we are not at the beach. Sammy and I have become beachcombers for sea glass at the beach outside our house. Give us three more years till we buy a metal detector and begin trolling the beach in matching Hawaiian shirts and sandals with socks. Our love for the pulsation of the ocean draws us to her shores, as does our dogs' need to escape the walls of our house. Sancho needs to get out and run like a crazy-man, everyday; to release his demons. As he goes batty, we sip margaritas and walk lazily along the shoreline; rivaling to find prize winning pieces of glass. Truth be told, there are some days that our walks are not so dreamy. Sancho has grown fond of running deep into a private resort where security chases him and Victor the poop-nazi enjoys yelling profanities off his balcony; making our walks entertaining. Every piece of sea glass found brings some smack talk as the other person tries to flash their find. Thanks to a culture that loves to relax and drink on the beach, on Sundays, there is an endless supply to be found.
Sammy got suckered into being my little helper when we made a beach glass mobile for a friend, several months ago. I am sure just the pure image of Sam and I doing arts and crafts projects together is enough to make people giggle. Yes, it is a pretty amusing event. Although Sam lucked out on this latest project because I had laryngitis and couldn't bark my orders at him; rather grunt and point, which just made him chuckle and smile. We recently celebrated 12 years since we met in the woods of New Hampshire; my-o-my have we changed!
