My Mexican Life [In Photos] La Tienda

'Tiendas' are the backbone of the community.  Almost everything we need can be found in our local corner market.  If it is not available, Kiki or Mario are quick to send someone out to try and find it and then deliver it to our house. This has become our favorite tienda in town; however, there are a few others which are equally stocked and hospitable.  The ease of jumping on our bikes and rumbling along the cobblestone streets to this market; along our loop of errands to the butcher and fish market, has allowed us to get to know the family; keeping us loyal.  I think Sam likes that he is now greeted with a handshake and the endearing term 'güero'...and I am secretly jealous that I don't get the bro handshake!

I was just writing about how much I love tiendas yesterday. I'm glad you haven't gotten suckered into the cheap allure of the big box stores that seem to be popping up everywhere in Mexico these days.
