At times, I lack the words to express what goes on in Mexico. I wonder if my eyes are trying to trick me. I try to make sense of it. But in the end, it isn't worth trying to fathom or translate back to my conventional North American mentality.
This is the beauty of Mexico! Strange things don't need a reason to happen; they just do.
It is refreshing. It makes me smile and keeps me on my toes.
A truck with irregular shaped objects piled to the sky; held together with one thin chord of rope. A sobriety checkpoint where you breath into the police officers hand; the smell lingering in his palm determines if you can pass the blockade or will be cited with a DUI. A seven year old driving a rickety old pick-up truck down the street. A man smoking a cigarette while standing atop a moving watering truck; hose in the opposite hand. A man on the top rung of an extended ladder; propped up and balanced on electrical wires.
The only explanation I have; for my mind, when it is seeking a tangible answer ....
'Esto es Mexico'.
This is Mexico.
